Who is behind Mastering College Success?
The Success in Chief stands for me, Dr. Lin, a higher education administrator, teacher, Licensed Psychologist, parent, and yoga fan who is excited to help you decode higher education and create your own success roadmap.
I have been a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) since 2010, and I am also a Board Certified Licensed Psychologist and Health Service Provider. I am a proud higher education administrator who specializes in learning, academic support and successful transitions to college.
My College Success Story…
The year was 1999, and I was a nervous prospective first year attending New Student Orientation. I graduated from an elite high school, with a very high SAT score, and a 4 year academic scholarship to college. I thought the transition from high school to college would be easy and seamless. Wow… was I ever mistaken!
I had absolutely no idea how to handle large classes, faster pacing, and complete academic independence – seriously, no one cares if I go to class?!? Not to mention the many mysterious terms being thrown around, what exactly is a Provost? Is that just a principal in an nicer suit?
Eventually, I figured out higher education, and how to succeed… I did graduate, with a Bachelors in Psychology, and went on to earn a Masters in Education (M.Ed.), and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Psychology. However, I always wished that I had someone (an insider) to help guide me in the huge transition to college, teach me how to learn, and create a personal success plan with me. It would have made the journey of college much smoother, and saved me from many wrong turns.
As a result, I decided to devote my career to building programs in higher education designed to help students transition successfully to college – thus, my day job as a higher education administrator. My passion is to share my knowledge with you!
